Invisalign Treatment in Rockville, MD

Our office works with Evenly orthodontics to provide Invisalign aligners. There are multiple steps to Invisalign with Evenly.

  1. To begin Invisalign treatment, we perform an examination and provide a consultation. We will see your level of malocclusion or bite imbalance and take note of overcrowded or crooked teeth. During the consultation, we ensure that Invisalign is the right orthodontic treatment for your needs.
  2. Then, we take images of the mouth using 3-D digital scans. The 3-D scanner takes hundreds of pictures to create a complete image of your current smile. The computer AI will also give an idea of the predicted results from your Invisalign treatment.
  3. We then make dental impressions that we send to a dental lab for fabrication. The dental lab creates pairs of custom, clear aligners that shift teeth slightly over time. Each pair is different. You may also receive Invisalign attachments depending on your specific needs. These attachments can treat certain parts of the smile to help improve tooth movement.
  4. We will track your treatment using EvenlyTrack. This remote tracking system eliminates the need for weekly dental visits in our office.

Once you complete treatment, we will create custom retainers. Wearing retainers following the Invisalign treatment keeps teeth straight and prevents teeth from reverting back to their previous positions. Orthodontic relapse can occur if you do not consistently wear your retainers.

At first, you will need to wear your retainers constantly. After several months, you can wear the retainers only at night. We will let you know when you can wear your retainers nightly.

Invisalign vs. Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces use wires, brackets, and elastics to shift teeth into a straighter position. Metal braces are useful for patients with moderate or severe orthodontic needs.

Patients who undergo braces treatment will require more in-office appointments to tighten their brackets and replace their wires. Sometimes, the metal wires can poke and irritate the gum tissue, and patients will need orthodontic wax if their wire is dislodged. Braces also make it difficult to get sticky or crunchy foods as they can get stuck in braces brackets or wires.

Alternatively, Invisalign aligners use a series of aligners to straighten teeth. Patients with mild to moderate orthodontic needs benefit from Invisalign treatment, which can address crooked teeth, tooth gaps, overbites, and underbites. Invisalign does not require as many in-office visits as metal braces.

Invisalign aligners are customized to cover the teeth without pinching the gums. The clear aligners are removable so that patients can eat without dietary restrictions.

Invisalign FAQs

Discover more about Invisalign treatment with answers to these commonly asked questions:

What are the benefits of Invisalign treatment?

Invisalign has many benefits. This treatment uses clear braces that are more discreet than traditional metal braces. However, they still provide beautiful results if you have orthodontic problems like gaps between teeth, overbites, underbites, and crooked teeth. You can remove your aligners to eat, drink, or brush your teeth.

Because Invisalign trays are removable, you can eat the foods you love, hard and crunchy foods included, without worrying about damaging your oral appliance. Additionally, it’s simple to clean Invisalign aligners with liquid soap and water or an Invisalign soak.

What can I eat and drink while wearing Invisalign?

You must remove your Invisalign trays before eating or drinking. Eating or drinking anything but water can stain and damage your aligners. Also, avoid smoking, vaping, or using tobacco products with Invisalign aligners on your teeth. Brush your teeth before you place your trays on your teeth to prevent bacterial buildup in the aligners.

How long do you have to wear Invisalign?

You must wear Invisalign aligners for 20 to 22 hours daily, even during sleep. Wearing your Invisalign aligners as long as possible ensures you’re on track to receiving a straighter smile.

How many times can you take Invisalign out daily?

You can take your Invisalign aligners out to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush. Your aligners can be off your teeth for a maximum of three hours a day. Leaving your aligners out can slow down treatment. It can potentially take longer to complete Invisalign if the aligners are not consistently straightening your smile.

Are Invisalign results permanent?

You can permanently straighten your teeth with Invisalign if you wear retainers consistently after completing treatment. As with other orthodontic treatments, you must wear a retainer to keep your teeth straight and prevent shifting teeth. If you lose or damage your retainers, please get in touch with our offic . We want to help you keep your teeth straight.

Can I get Invisalign if I’ve had braces in the past?

Yes. Patients who received treatment with braces i  the past and did not consistently wear their retainers may need more orthodontic treatment down the road. Orthodontic relapse occurs when patients fail to wear their retainers consistently, and their teeth begin to revert back to their previous positi ns.

We recommend Invisalign over traditional braces for patients with slightly crooked teeth or tooth gaps. Invisalign can be a quick treatment for patients with orthodontic relapse who w nt their straight smile back.
